Technical guide

Apple Juice Clarification & Filtration Selection

Define clarity, solids removal and filtration duties for clear apple juice without confusing clear products with NFC or concentrate routes.

Define a clear product target

Specify the intended appearance, measurement method and evaluation conditions. A freshly clear sample does not by itself establish stability during storage. NFC describes concentration history; a clear NFC product can still require clarification and filtration after pressing.

Characterize the pressed juice

The feed condition and solids load influence the finishing arrangement. Product-specific treatment, separation and filtration should be evaluated on the relevant juice. Identify the source of variation across apple lots before finalizing a sequence or sizing individual duties.

Track retained material and losses

Clarification creates additional material streams. Record separated solids, retained liquid and cleaning waste alongside accepted juice. Finishing losses belong in the material balance, and the next treatment or concentration stage needs a defined feed condition.

Keep cloudy juice on its own route

Removing unwanted coarse material is different from removing the suspended phase intended in cloudy juice. A clear-juice finishing train should not be inserted automatically into a cloudy-juice project. State the intended cloud and stability target when asking for a proposal.
